Lesson # 1: Try not to make so much out of happiness

One way to have a long, happy marriage is to downplay the happiness part. Maybe it's overrated.

You say, "What? You call your blog 'Long, Happy Marriage,' but right off you're telling us that we can make more out of happiness than it deserves? Bait and switch."

Here's something I think is pretty.

I took this pic in Denali National Park, one of the places on our must-see-while-we-can-still-get-around list.

If you didn't guess it already, as much as possible in this blog, we're writing tongue-in-cheek. We don't really see ourselves as experts on marriage-in-the-long-haul, as if we could tell others, one-two-three-kick for a long happy marriage.

We do aspire, however, to make comments that are both true and humorous.

More next week. We're not holding ourselves to daily blogging about marriage-in-the-long-haul, but we do have material for the next five or six weeks, if we post only once a week. Ta-da.

Welcome

Welcome to "Long, Happy Marriage." Dottie and I are still in one of those long marriages that make it to 50 years. Actually the anniversary was over a month ago. Here we are going to tell you some of the things that may have made it possible for us to stay together this long. We hope you enjoy our insights.
